Cabin Fever

Well, the sun has finally decided to peek out from behind the clouds and the weather seems to be almost decent now. I've been suffering from cabin fever since about, oh July of last year. I'm determined to spend a lot of time outdoors this summer and I thought I would try to recruit some help. I'm looking for fun things that involve walking (i.e. hiking, climbing etc.), water (swimming, kayaking etc.), and NOT INDOORS. I would like things that are day trips and a few overnight spots are good too. So far I'm planning on going to Multnomah Falls, Ape Cave and possibly Belknap. I would be so grateful for anymore ideas or places to try. This is Carpe Diem to the max! ( I warned you that I've been feverish :-D ).

Curtain Call

David and I are currently discussing window treatments for our home - particularly the living room and dining room.

We both agree that we don't like valances and we want it to look simple and elegant. We're trying to go for a "rustic farmhouse" look, but not necessarily country (does that even make sense?). Last night we looked through books, magazines and the internet for ideas to show each what we the other was thinking.

Here's what I picked out:

This one is my favorite. I have never seen any window treatment like this before.

I liked the simple yet unexpected look of the asymmetrical tie back.

I liked the unique way the sheers were pinned.

Here are David's picks:
He thought this gave more of the rustic farmhouse feel we wanted.

He liked the airy look the sheers gave and the tabs were different.

He had an idea to put in white shutter-like blinds.

As anyone can now see, our vision for simple elegance are different. What do you all think? Any opinions or ideas?

Massahhhhge

Yesterday morning Mom treated me out to a girls spa package at the Wellspring spa in Woodburn. This was my first ever professional massage and it was wonderful! David warned me that I would come home addicted, but I didn't believe him. :)

The girlfriend package starts out by changing into robes and sandals and then you are guided into a dimly lit waiting room where they soak your feet in a warm water solution and place a heated neck wrap around you. After a small time frame of waiting you are taken separately to your room where you are treated to your massage. After 50 minuets of bliss you are guided back to the waiting room where they place another neck wrap around you and serve you a glass of champagne and gourmet chocolate. Mom and I just sat there talking for an hour and enjoying each others company. It was so nice. An interesting thing was that after my massage I was looking at myself in the mirror and there was this glow around me that I had never seen before. It really reminded me of the movie Stardust where Yvaine glows from happiness and relaxation after her massage. Thank you mom!!
