And the color is...

Butter Cookie!
Yes, it's a yummy sounding name. We picked it out in about 3 seconds. We both agreed on what kind of color we wanted and when we looked through the samples this was the first one we picked and we liked it best among all the others we looked at.
David got the wainscot up and finished painting most of it last night (with the help of Sarah and Grace).

We ordered our wall sconces:

They should be arriving soon.
Our plumber is letting us use his access to his wholesalers store on Friday, so we will hopefully find the rest of the hardware and the toilet to finish this of. :)
Our door knobs had been painted over so David took them to his work and got them all sparkly clean:

Amazing.
Also if you look back at the fist picture on this post you can see a window behind David. The bottom part of the frame was not there. David added that.
And if this does not make you envious enough... yesterday I came home to find out he had cleaned the house (including dusting a mopping!) and he had gone to Old Navy and got me a gift card to start buying maternity clothes! Yes, I'm one lucky wife! :)

Beach Trip and New Bathroom Update

This past weekend we enjoyed a fun-filled coastal retreat with John and Nancy Spears.

We're on our way!

Well, not exactly we had some car issues that caused us to be delayed for a few hours...

We're finally here!

"Save me!"

Nancy played chicken.
Oh, very close!
She made it!

Watching the surfer trying to catch a wave.

Silly boys! :)
Trying to find the caves again! I've been coming to this cabin for five years and I have yet to see it. (I didn't go out this time with them, but they still couldn't get to it.)
Look out Nancy!

Ahhh!

Oh no, he got her.
"Wow, the ocean is so boring!"

This says it all.

Our last stop...a giant Octopus Tree...now I can scratch off that final item on my bucket list.
Hooray for the Octopus Tree!
The end of the trip.
We had such a great time. I hope to do it again.

We also got some major work done on the new bathroom that it's time for a new update. :)

David got the pipes all covered up in the downstairs. Check it out...it looks like an architectural design that had been there all along.

If you didn't know if wasn't there before you never would think twice about it.

The ceiling is covered nicely too!

John did all the taping, mudding and sanding for us in the bathroom that David can now start priming and painting.

Thanks John you did a mah-velous job!

Today we are going to pick out a color for the bathroom and we need to get out mirror, fixtures and sconces. David is hoping to be mostly done by the end of next week!

Say Cheese!

Yup, that blur you see right there is the first picture ever taken of our baby.
Two days ago was my first appointment and I will not lie...I was nervous. David said he has never seen me so squirmy. I don't have a good rapport with doctors, so I opted for a midwife. I was still not sure if I was going to like this lady, but my fears went away when I met her. She was very nice and personal, she respected what I had to say and I felt like I had all the time I wanted with her. She even brought in a surprise for us. She came in with an ultrasound machine and said that if we wanted we can have one. I had been to an ultrasound with Rachel when she was pregnant with Anika, but it's different when it's yours. :) It was still to early to hear the heartbeat, but we got to see it pumping away. I think it has finally convinced David that this is really happening. :)
I have to come back in next week to get my blood drawn and then my follow-up is in March.
In other news David got all the sheet rock hung in our bathroom and is just about done with recovering the downstairs room. Just in time for John and Nancy Spears to come down. We'll be spending the weekend with them at the beach. I'm really looking forward to this.

With new baby comes...

...a new bathroom! In the few weeks we've discovered we were pregnant David decided it was do or die time with the second bath we have been wanting to add to our home. He got started the very week we found out.

Nope no skeletons behind these walls.

It's a dirty job.
The ceiling in the media room needed to be opened to make room for the pipes.

Here come the plumbers with all the equipment!

This is where our sink and vanity is going to be.

Boxing the pipes.

David's grandfather came over today to show him to get the electrical set up, so that is going to be worked on next.

We already bought a claw foot tub last year. We got a vanity at Costco and now all we need is the toilet. We are hoping to have it complete by the end of March. After that it will have been one year since we've moved into the house! I cannot believe how fast time is flying!

Surprise!

Yup it's true! David and I are expecting our first baby in the fall!
We found out the day we got back from Sun River. While we were out there I started to suspect something, but didn't think too much of it. I had some pregnancy tests at home and was planning on taking one we got home. Just to be on the safe side I stopped drinking alcohol. I wasn't going to say anything to David, because I've had this happen a couple of times, but it was always a false alarm so, there was no reason to say anything to him unless I knew for sure. However, he had mentioned something about kids and the way home and I decided I should probably tell him. He got excited, but not optimistic. In fact he had pretty much forgotten all about it when we got home. He went upstairs and I went on my mission to take my test. These were little strips that didn't read results very well. It looked positive to me, but I wasn't sure so I did another and another and again I wasn't sure. I told David and he said to go get one at the store that would tell me clearly. While I was gone he went to check the ones I already took. He called me up, "Uhhh...they look positive to me." Well, I still wanted a clear answer, so I bought one that has a digital reading "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant," this way there would be no doubt.
Well I got home, took the test and the result was clear...Pregnant. I walked over to David.
Kathy: "It's positive!"
David: "What does that mean?"
Kathy: "It means I'm pregnant."
David: "Really?"

It's taken some time to convince David and there are still days he doesn't believe it. :) Probably because I have not been sick yet. I just really tired. I'm just starting to get weird food aversions, but it's mostly anything spicy or the texture of meat. Pickles and Ice Cream actually don't sound like a bad idea though...

Sunriver

A few weeks ago we went on a wonderful mini-vacation with Steve & Angie and Jesse & Janelle to Sunriver. My boss owns a home out there and rented it out to us. We had rented from him last year and had so much fun we decided to do it again. This year we stayed for 4 nights which gave us enough time to get some skiing in (except for Jesse who thinks the fun factor does not equal to the cost factor. :D) I hadn't gone to the mountains in almost 8 years and I never had done any skiing or snowboarding before. All I've ever done were those ski blades that were around about 10 years ago. My sister loves them and actually owns a pair, so I borrowed her pair.
